Indiana Center for Recovery (ICFR) is a patient-centered substance use disorder and mental health treatment facility offering both residential and outpatient programs. One of the popular treatment types that it employs is cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT). It enables patients to identify the challenges and negative thoughts and embark on a transformation journey.
“Our full continuum care facility with a board-certified psychiatrist and licensed mental health counselors guides individuals on a transformation journey by unraveling intricate thoughts and emotions through cognitive behavior therapy,” says Jackie Daniels, clinical director, Indiana Center for Recovery.
ICFR recognizes that CBT often fails to address a person as a whole as it tends to ignore their value and strength. This is why it offers strength-based and affirming approaches in conjunction with evidence-based practices. This includes incorporating dialectical behavior therapy and rational motive behavioral therapy fostering a holistic well-being of the individual.
“We can’t rely solely on CBT as a primary intervention. We apply other approaches that take an entire person into consideration,” says Daniels.
What sets ICFR apart is its emphasis on therapeutic relationships and the recovery environment. The company creates a safe, comfortable, and autonomous space, allowing clients to focus and delve into the challenges they face. Patients and therapists work together to create the best CBT strategy.
It begins the client engagement journey through multiple assessments. This is crucial to assign the right therapists with the right skillsets. A comprehensive evaluation, along with a biopsychosocial-spiritual assessment to identify a wide range of issues resolvable by CBT, is also conducted. The therapist collaborates with an integrated and interdisciplinary team, including medical staff, group facilitators, and behavioral health technicians, to gather insights and observations from various perspectives, such as tangible behaviors displayed by the client in the peer community or therapeutic environment.
CBT identifies the challenges and faulty thoughts and replaces them with more objective and realistic ones. This alleviates emotional distress by rewiring thinking patterns. ICFR also incorporates group therapy, allowing patients to address cognitive distortions and fostering a positive cycle of growth. Through a comprehensive approach that incorporates individual and group therapy, the company facilitates healing and change.
Its success is exemplified through an instance where a young adult struggling with delusional and severe alcohol use disorder approached ICFR. Through CBT, he gained insight into his beliefs, thoughts, and emotional responses, leading to improved self-perception and social interactions. He ultimately secured employment and lived independently.
“Our commitment to excellence extends to our team of dedicated professionals who bring a profound understanding and empathy to their work, creating an environment of hope, understanding, and support for clients,” says Daniels. “We shine as a guiding light for those lost in the depths of life’s storms through holistic approaches like trauma-informed yoga, animal-assisted therapies, and the mind-body connection.”
Through its experienced staff, campus community environment, and proven treatment processes, ICFR is committed to giving the best-in-class treatment to patients.
